The story behind the name Citra

Citra is a homage to Maison Citröhan, a series of houses built about 100 years ago by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Maison Citröhan was one of the most prominent attempts to solve the global housing shortage through technology and innovation – goals that are also central to Citra’s mission.

Le Corbusier was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. He invented groundbreaking concepts like the flat roof that have shaped the face of cities around the world and constantly pushed the boundaries of materials and design language.

The Maison Citröhan homes were designed by Le Corbusier with the intention of creating spaces that were not only efficient, but also affordable. By making the house orderly and available to the masses, Le Corbusier envisioned creating uplifting living spaces that offered a solution to the housing chaos resulting from World War I.

Like Le Corbusier, we at Citra believe in pushing not only technological boundaries, but also finding design elements and a design language that stands proud for our generation – one that represents our technologies, dreams, and lifestyles.

By naming Citra after this pioneering housing project, we aim to carry on Le Corbusier’s legacy of using technology and innovation to solve the global housing crisis. Just as the Maison Citröhan represented a bold vision 100 years ago, Citra is our modern attempt to transform the built environment through cutting-edge solutions.
