Citra Scales Innovation with Launch of New Laboratory Facility
Cape Town, 05.03.2026
This past Tuesday, Citra marked a major milestone in its technical evolution with the official opening of the Citra Laboratory. Building on years of in-house development within its existing factory operations, this new, dedicated laboratory represents a significant expansion of Citra’s research, development, and testing capabilities.
The launch event brought the entire Citra team together for an afternoon focused on the future of construction. Staff toured the new facility, gaining a first look at the specialised equipment that will drive the next phase of Citra’s technological development. The day concluded with a celebratory gathering to mark this important step in the company’s growth.
Elevating Research & Development
While Citra has long prioritised internal testing, the new Citra Lab provides a specialised environment equipped with state-of-the-art material and structural testing equipment. This facility is central to the company’s mission to continually refine its building technology—ensuring that every project balances premium aesthetics, rigorous structural integrity, and long-term longevity.
“The opening of the Citra Lab is a foundational step in our journey to further advance our building technology,” said Jacques Kruger, Head of Engineering at Citra. “This facility allows us to validate our proprietary methods with even greater precision as we work towards becoming the largest independent, ISO-accredited structural testing laboratory in South Africa.”
A Milestone for Innovation
The transition to a dedicated laboratory underscores Citra’s commitment to technical excellence and industry leadership. With this new capability, the company can accelerate development cycles, refine its construction methods more rapidly, and bring site‑ready solutions to market with greater confidence.
As Citra continues its expansion across South Africa, Switzerland, and the United States, the Citra Lab will serve as the engine of its technological progress—ensuring sustainability, durability, and performance remain at the forefront of every home built.
